WHO WE ARE
We are a faith community that is diverse in every way. We have a place for every individual who is seeking to grow in his or her relationship with God. Our faith community is rooted and grounded in the two great commandments, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.’ And the second is like unto it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” Together we learn and grow together through prayer, worship, service, scripture and stewardship. We believe that we are called to grow in Christlikeness as Christian disciples and to reach out into the world as Christian apostles. Hence, Christian education, fellowship, outreach and mission are an important part of who we are.
OUR PROGRAMS AND MINISTRIES
We have programs and ministries for children, youth and adults. As a faith community we not only minister to singles but to families as well. Hence, twice a week we provide programming for the entire family. On Sunday mornings we have worship and Sunday School for all ages. In addition, we have a nursery staffed by loving and caring individuals who provide a nurturing environment for our infants and toddlers during this time. On Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 PM we have a meal and small groups for all ages with a nursery for our infants and toddlers.
During the week we offer a variety of fellowship times and study for our church family which include United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, choirs for all ages and small group studies. In addition, we have dinner, music and fellowship activities for fourth through twelfth graders on Sunday evening between 4:30 PM and7:30 PM. This includes a Club 456 for fourth, fifth and sixth graders and a Youth Program for seventh through twelfth graders.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Some of these outreach ministries are for seniors through the Shepherd Center of Orange Park; for youth through Scouting and Upward Athletic Programs; and for children through an Early Education Center and Mentoring Programs in our local schools. And there are many more.
MISSIONS
We are involved in missions around the world!
Among our local missions are the Good Samaritan Ministry which provides food for any Clay County Resident in need; the James Boys who build access ramps for individuals with handicapping conditions in Clay County; the Bicycle Ministry which provides bikes for the homeless, those seeking mobility for employment and some 300 plus bikes for children at Christmas through the J. P. Hall Children’s Charities.
Within our state we support the United Methodist Children’s Home which provides 24 hour emergency care, foster care and residential care for children and families in crisis. The main campus is located in Enterprise, FL and the 500 acre Madison Ranch is located in Madison, FL. A wide range of services are provided for children and youth ranging from equine therapy at the Madison Ranch and an independent living facility on the Enterprise Campus. In addition to the statewide ministry of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home we minister to those within the prison system in Florida through the Kairos Ministry and to their female loved ones through Kairos Outside. Kairos is a transformative ministry that has a recidivism of under 20% compared to a general population recidivism rate of 50%.
Our international missions span the globe. In Africa we support Africa University which is Zimbabwe’s first private university for young men and women who come from all over Africa. Africa University provides dynamic programs that include agriculture and natural resources, education, health sciences, humanities and social sciences, management, administration and theology. In Haiti we provide salaries for doctors and nurses in addition to vital medical equipment to sustain a clinic that is an ongoing beacon of hope for those in need of health care for their families. In Cuba we provide support for community outreach through the faith community. And our missions continue around the world.
If you love missions, we have over fifty that you can be involved in. And, in addition to the gifts of time, talent and service that our church family makes towards the furtherance of these missions we give an amount in cash equal to one-third of our budget each year towards missions.
