Dr. Mark “Doc” Stallings serves as the Director of Music Ministries at Orange Park UMC.  He  is responsible for leading the music ministry staff in coordinating and/or directing our wide array of musical opportunities including the church orchestra, ensembles, bell choirs, and youth/children/adult choral groups.   Mark grew up in Tampa, Florida and has a wonderful family including three children, seven grandchildren and enjoys the constant support of his wife Terry.

Mark was raised in a Christian home and began his faith journey on an Easter Sunday morning where he walked down the aisle and committed his life to Christ.  In elementary school, he hated music.  His music teacher wouldn’t allow him to participate in class!  However, in his church choir his music teacher saw something special in Mark and his encouragement helped Mark get “hooked” on music.

Mark’s lifelong dream was to teach college music.  After earning his Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Miami, Master of Music Education from Florida Atlantic University, and his Doctor of Music Artistry from the University of Miami, he was well on his way to fulfilling that dream.  However, along the way, Mark felt God calling him into a life of purpose in the local church, and we are incredibly blessed that he answered that call!  Mark has served the congregations of First UMC of Stuart, FL, Saint Stephens UMC of Amarillo, TX, First UMC of Winter Park, FL, and Trinity UMC of Lighthouse Point, FL before joining our ministry team in October of 2000.

Mark loves ping pong, time spent at the beach and has a diverse tie collection that is always a topic of conversation.  He is most thankful to the wonderful volunteers and staff for helping keep this Music Ministry alive and thriving.
