Pastor Emeritus - Reverend Charles Hubbard

Reverend Charles Hubbard, Jr. serves as one of our Pastor Emeritus here at Orange Park United Methodist.  He and his wife Carolyn have been long time members of Orange Park UMC and have 5 children, John Hubbard, Kenneth Hubbard, Stuart Hubbard, Jennifer Bassett, Mary Harper plus 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Reverend Hubbard served the US Navy as both an enlisted serviceman and as a Naval Officer.  He has a Bachelors degree from the Economics/Law segment of the University of Georgia, attended the US Naval Post Graduate School of Engineering and Science in Monterey, CA, the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA, and earned his Master of Divinity at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY in 1983.

Rev. Hubbard was born of a devoted Christian Mother of the Methodist tradition who insisted on Sunday School/Church at an early age, and grew up in large downtown St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA, attending Sunday School, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Youth activities.  

He was ordained a Deacon in the Virginia Conference on June 11, 1984 and became an Ordained Elder by Bishop Robert Blackburn on June 8, 1987.

Reverend Hubbard has served the New Bethel - Motley Charge, worked to plant a new church in Fairfax Station, VA, and was appointed to Zion Grace United Methodist in Norfolk, VA before retiring to Fleming Island, FL in 1996.  He assisted the North East Florida District with New Church Development from 2000-2010.  

Reverend Hubbard continues to serve the local church as a Pastor Emeritus whenever the need arrives and also teaches weekly at our Traditions Sunday School Class.
